New Hampshire scientists say that huge Chicxulub crater in Mexico, which measures 180 kilometers in diameter, was produced by a spatial object smaller than previously thought.
Until now, most scientists believed that the crater was created by an asteroid large and slow.
The new study was presented as part of the 44th conference of the Lunar and Planetary Science .
